Mymensingh

This vast town called Mymensingh is a paradise of natural beauty and diversity. Mymensingh is one of the oldest districts. Horns in the forest, once time addressing this largest district in India. The former name of Mymensingh, the country of Mahua-Malua, was Nasirabad.

This district name has many fables. During the reign of Emperor Akbar, a person named Momen Shah was the ruler of Bajuhar (now Mymensingh). And according to the name of this ruler, the name of this region was then Momenshahi, later it got the name of Mymensingh. A battle took place between Bhuiyas of Bhati region with Subedar Mansingh in the middle of Dasakahunia of Jamalpur, Sherpur and Atiya in the southern part of Tangail district. This war was led by Mansingh and the district was named Mansingh after him. Later, the name Mymensingh originated from this Mansingh.

The lively people of this district can identified in its name - My-men-sing means my people sing. This fertile land of Bangladesh with the Brahmaputra is a huge reservoir of education-art-literature and folk culture. Surrounded by the Garo Hills in the north, the forests of Bhawal Madhupur in the south, the Meghna watershed originating from the Brahmaputra river in the west and the Someswari, Titus, Surma, and Meghna river basins in the east, the region has always been a forbidding region surrounded by natural walls. This division is most beautiful and has good weather.
